Newcomer's Guide to City View
New to City View
At City View Elementary School, we are committed to the success of all students, inclusive of Multilingual Learners, who are new to our school community.
Worcester public schools, in accordance with Federal, State, and WIDA guidance, refer to our English Learners as Multilingual Learners (MLs). This designation encourages an asset-based view of students who speak multiple languages, and places value on all languages.
ML’s are between the ages of 3 through 21, enrolled or preparing to enroll in an elementary school or secondary school, and were not born in the United States or whose native language is a language other than English.
Federal and state law requires that instructional support is to be provided to ensure all ELL students have access to the curriculum and meet the same academic standards as their native English speaking peers.
