Vex Robotics Program
Overview
The WPS Robotics program seeks to increase student interest and involvement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Students engage in hands-on, sustainable and affordable curriculum-based robotics engineering programs across the U.S. and internationally.
We use the VEX Robotics hardware and software. VEX Robotics is the largest robotics program in the world with more than 10,000 teams in all 50 states and more than 30 countries.
The VEX IQ program is strategically aligned with NSTA, Standards for Technical Literacy and Common Core Mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA) standards. For a more detailed list, please visit the Autodesk TSA Robotics Framework.
Each year our scholars in grades 4-6 strive to be able to:
Build a functioning robot from scratch.
Program a remote control.
Measure accurately to create a plan for programming.
Program robot to run autonomously using Modkit linear programming.
Design and redesign robots to fit constraints and complete a designated function.
Keep an engineering design notebook.
Complete a research project on a type of engineering in a multimedia format.
Present research to the group.
