This program encompasses four years beginning with the student’s freshman year via an initial exploratory program. Our goal is to prepare the students to achieve both A+ and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification. More than 100 companies, educators, and industry executives worked to develop the A+ Certification program. A+ Certification means that a person possesses the knowledge and skills essential to become a successful computer science technician. This certification provides industry-recognized credentials, independent of specific product or vendor knowledge.

The Networking Academy program is a comprehensive eight-semester/560- hour course that teaches students to design, build, and maintain computer networks. Students are also prepared for industry standard certifications, including Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA™), Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA Security™). The Networking Academy program combines lectures and online learning with hands-on laboratory exercises in which students apply what they learn in class, while working on actual networks. From basic to advanced networking skills, the Networking Academy curriculum prepares students for lifelong opportunities in the real world.

All eligible students have the opportunity to participate in Cooperative Education and Internship experiences at a variety of approved learning sites across the city in their junior and/or senior year. While the requirements and specific opportunities vary from school to school, and program to program, the structured combination of classroom based education and practical work experience provides students with the skills necessary to comfortably navigate the world of work.
