A message for Worcester Public Schools families and staff:
ParentSquare, the district’s communications platform, is making a minor change as to how you receive text messages.
This minor change impacts people who receive text messages through ParentSquare and will take effect October 21, 2026. If you use the smartphone app or have text notifications turned off, this change will not impact you.
Here’s what you need to know:
Currently text messages are sent from a “short code,” such as “36794.” Soon, you will receive text messages from a 10-digit phone number, such as “508-555-5555.”
Currently, texts from every school and teacher land in one thread. Soon, each school, class, and teacher text will come from its own phone number.

When a 10-digit number is first used for a conversation, ParentSquare sends a short introduction text. It tells you which teacher, staff member, school, or type of message the number is for. Here is an example:
ParentSquare messages from R. Taylor will come from this number. Save it so you know who's texting. Try the app: https://psqr.io/app
You don't need to do anything. Saving the number to your contacts is optional, but it helps your phone show who the text is from.
Then the direct message follows:
[WE] Taylor: Good afternoon Mrs. Patel, we missed Myra in class today. Let me know if she’s okay and if you need help with make-up work. https://psqr.io/KlmNoRqRsT
