WORCESTER – Tuesday, December 9, 2025 – Worcester Public Schools (WPS) students from Burncoat High School, Doherty Memorial High School, and South High Community School delivered record-breaking performances at the Central District Massachusetts Music Educators Association (CDMMEA) Senior Festival auditions on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Competing alongside hundreds of students from across Central Massachusetts, approximately 65–75 WPS students auditioned for a place in the festival. Of these, 36 earned festival acceptances, including 24 who received All-State recommendations, which are awarded to students scoring within the top 40 percent of their audition room. These results represent the highest number of festival acceptances recorded by Worcester Public Schools since tracking began in 2017.
“I extend my congratulations to all of our students who participated in this year’s auditions. Their record-breaking achievements reflect the strength of our music programs, the dedication of our educators, and the talent we see every day in Worcester Public Schools,” said Superintendent Brian E. Allen.
The CDMMEA Senior Festival is an annual opportunity for high school musicians across Central Massachusetts to audition for placement in district-wide ensembles. Students who earn acceptance are eligible to perform in district-wide concert bands, orchestras, jazz bands, and choruses with top-performing peers from across the region.
