Dear Belmont Street Community School Families,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to announce that Emily Kokansky has been selected as Principal of Belmont Street Community School for the 2026-27 year.
For many of you, Ms. Kokansky is a familiar face at Belmont, where she worked for nine years as a teacher and instructional coach. She worked this past year as Acting Principal of the Francis J. McGrath Elementary School, where she continued to grow as a school leader, deepening her commitment to supporting students, staff, and families.
Ms. Kokansky says moving back to Belmont “feels like coming home” and she’s grateful for the opportunity to lead a community that has played such an important role in her professional journey. She looks forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to build upon the strong foundation already in place.
I would like to deeply thank Ms. Jennifer Keating for her outstanding leadership of Belmont Community School over the past 9 years. Her tireless commitment and dedication has created a school with a welcoming culture that continuously improves student outcomes. As you are aware, Ms. Keating will continue to work for the Worcester Public Schools as Principal on Assignment focusing on school improvement efforts.
Ms. Kokansky’s deep knowledge of the Belmont community and her commitment to high-quality instruction and supporting students and families of all backgrounds will be an asset, building upon the success that has already taken place at Belmont. She looks forward to connecting with students, families, and staff soon.
Sincerely,
Kareem Tatum, EdD
