Good afternoon, Burncoat Prep. community,

I am writing to inform you of changes in leadership of Burncoat Street Preparatory School for the 2026-27 school year.

It is with mixed emotions that I share that I will be stepping down from my role as Principal of Burncoat Prep. because I am taking a new position as Elementary Special Education Coordinator in the Arlington Public Schools.  I will miss everyone at Burncoat Prep. and I will carry so many fond memories of leading this special school.

It has been my pleasure to lead our school for the past three years. I have watched the teachers roll out our new ELA curriculum and witnessed firsthand the resulting student gains and successes. We have reinvigorated our PTO and Site Council, and now have several events each year where our school community can gather. Our staff has taken a deep dive into strategies for supporting multilingual learners, and supporting math fact fluency. I am proud of the work we have done at Burncoat Prep. and am deeply grateful to have served this school community.

The Worcester Public Schools administration will share more information soon about next steps to find a new leader for Burncoat Prep. Rest assured that a Principal will be in place to start the new school year. Thank you all for your support and hard work, and I wish you a wonderful summer!

Sincerely,

Emily Plante, EdD

Principal
