Dear Worcester Public Schools Families, Students, and Community,
I am writing to express my thanks for the many wishes of support and congratulations I have received over the past week. It means a lot to me.
As someone who has grown up and spent my entire career in Worcester, it’s a true honor to be named the next Superintendent.
Building on the strength of our strategic plan, Our Promise to the Future, for which I served as the chair of the committee that oversaw its development, I am committed to building upon the successes and continued accomplishments of WPS, and to focus on areas of needed growth.
Later this spring, you will hear from me with more specifics about how I will facilitate opportunities to gather feedback from staff and the community. Before then, I will be working with the Worcester School Committee to finalize the terms of my new role.
I will continue to partner with our current superintendent, Dr. Rachel Monárrez, to ensure a smooth transition and ensure the work continues to move forward to serve our 25,000 scholars, as well as their families and staff. I will attend family and community meetings alongside her as much as I can, including the joint meeting of the Family Advisory Councils on Tuesday, May 20, at 6:00 PM, at Doherty High School.
Thank you for your support and commitment to the Worcester Public Schools.
In partnership,
Brian Allen
Deputy Superintendent, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operations Officer
