Dear Worcester Public Schools Families and Staff,

My name is Brian Allen and I’m honored to introduce myself as the new Superintendent of the Worcester Public Schools. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Worcester School Committee, our students, staff, and families, and the entire community for your support as I transition into this vital role.

Worcester is where I grew up, attended school, and have years of fond memories — from being a student at Quinsigamond Elementary and Sullivan Middle, to graduating at South High.

For the past three decades, I’ve worked diligently with seven previous superintendents, focused on the work that keeps our district strong. Now, as your Superintendent, you’ll see more of me — visiting schools, connecting with families, and engaging with our community.

In fact, since my appointment was announced, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of you and your feedback has been invaluable. I will share more opportunities later this summer on how we can connect even further during the school year.

As we look toward 2025-26, our focus as a district will be to sharpen our Tier 1 instruction to drive meaningful improvements in student learning. We’ll fully embrace the concept of “Vision to Action,” going deeper into our “Vision of a Learner” framework to ensure all students are developing the future-ready skills they need.

Our work will remain connected to our five-year strategic plan, “Our Promise to the Future,” as we build upon the foundation of our work over the past three years. This means continuously focusing on school culture and climate, deepening family and community engagement, acquiring and retaining top talent, and continuously modernizing our facilities.

Importantly, we’ll continue to prioritize equitable resources and educational programming. Strong academics and student achievement are truly at the heart of everything we do.

As your Superintendent, I’m also ready to lead our district through the challenges that may lie ahead, which include continued academic recovery in a post-pandemic world, the growing uncertainty at the federal level, and the conclusion of the Student Opportunity Act funding.

It also means welcoming, supporting, and affirming students, staff, and families of diverse backgrounds during this challenging time in our history. WPS remains steadfast in its commitment to being an inclusive and welcoming district for all.

I believe wholeheartedly that strong collaboration will lead to true success for students and staff of the Worcester Public Schools. To realize this vision, we must center the well-being and success of our students and staff in every decision we make.

Our work will remain grounded in the core values that define us: belonging, respect, inclusivity, collaboration, and equity. These aren’t just words — they are principles that guide our actions and shape our culture.

While I am deeply honored and humbled to serve as your Superintendent in the district where I grew up and graduated, the next three years are not about me. They’re about us — our collective effort to strengthen teaching and learning, and recognizing and uplifting the brilliance in every student.

I truly look forward to working alongside our exceptional district leadership team, our dedicated educators, our families, and our community partners to ensure all students thrive.

Together, let’s move from “vision” to “action” and build the future our students deserve.

Sincerely,
Brian Allen
Superintendent
