Dear City View Discovery School Community,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to announce that John Donahue has been selected as the Acting Principal of City View Discovery School for the 2026-27 school year.

Mr. Donahue is currently the Assistant Principal of Quinsigamond Elementary School in the Worcester Public Schools. For the nine years prior, he was a special education teacher in the STEP programs at City View and Quinsigamond.

Mr. Donahue is excited to return to his roots at City View, where he began his career as a special education paraeducator. A lifelong resident of Worcester, John is proud to serve his community as an educational leader. He is the father of two girls, including a third grader in the Worcester Public Schools.

I would like to thank Erin Derr for her years of dedicated service and commitment as the Principal of City View. She is truly passionate about this school community and her work will live on after she departs. As shared, Mrs. Derr will be moving to the McGrath Elementary School to become the Principal next year.

Mr. Donahue’s deep knowledge of the City View community, along with his commitment to high-quality instruction, special education, and supporting students and families of all backgrounds places him in a position to become a successful leader at City View. He looks forward to connecting with students, families, and staff soon.
