Dear Flagg Street School Community,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to formally announce that Ms. Colleen Dyer has been selected as the Principal of Flagg Street School for the 2026-27 year.

Ms. Dyer brings more than 20 years of experience in education. She has been the Assistant Principal at Thorndyke Road Elementary School since 2021, where she has supported efforts focused on student achievement, school culture, family engagement, and social-emotional learning.

Ms. Dyer has worked in the Worcester Public Schools since 2013. She joined the district as a grade 6 English Language Arts teacher at Worcester Arts Magnet School. In 2018, she became the district-wide English Language Arts Curriculum Liaison, supporting literacy instruction and curriculum implementation for educators in grades K-12. 

I would like to express my deep gratitude to Patty Genese for serving as Principal of the Flagg Street School for the past four years, and congratulate her on retiring from the Worcester Public Schools, where she worked for 35 years. Her dedication to student success and working with families leaves behind a solid foundation for next year. 

I would also like to thank the parents and caregivers who have been involved in the process to select a new Principal. We appreciate your volunteer time and dedication to our students.

Ms. Dyer’s deep background in elementary education and her knowledge of our schools will be an asset as she becomes Principal. She looks forward to connecting with students, families, and staff in her new role.
