Meet Krysta Cabral, a proud Doherty Memorial High School Class of 2015 alum who now serves the Worcester community as a Guidance Counselor at Burncoat High School. Krysta works closely with students, families, staff, and administrators to support the whole student body, helping with college applications, mental health needs, academic counseling, and everything in between. After completing her school counseling practicum at Doherty in 2022–2023 while earning her master’s degree, she was offered a position at Burncoat that fall.
Krysta says the diversity and experiences she gained in Worcester Public Schools not only prepared her for the “real world” but also gave her the perfect mindset for serving today’s students. “I’ve been where they are,” she shares. “I know the struggles and triumphs of the Worcester community.” Outside of school, Krysta recently got married and built her first home in Millbury. She’s even considering a second master’s degree in educational leadership. From student to school counselor, Krysta’s story reflects her deep pride in Worcester and her dedication to giving back to the community that shaped her.
