Dear WPS Middle and High School Families,
This summer or spring, you may have received a legal notice via email concerning a class action settlement with Naviance, a college and career planning platform used by the Worcester Public Schools and districts nationwide.
Any student who used the platform may be subject to receive the notification. The lawsuit was filed by the Chicago Public Schools; Worcester Public Schools is not a party to the lawsuit. We would like to advise families of the following information, which is outlined below.
Key Information for Families
Not a Data Breach: This settlement is not the result of a hack or a data breach.
Legitimacy: The email message you may have received was sent by a court-appointed settlement administrator, not by Worcester Public Schools. They are legitimate legal notices.
Eligibility: Anyone who logged into Naviance between August 2021 and January 2026 may have received the notice.
WPS Status: Worcester Public Schools is not a party to this lawsuit. This is a national matter involving the vendor’s platform across many districts.
Action Steps for Families
Participation in the settlement is entirely optional. Families have the choice to:
