Dear Worcester Public Schools Families and Staff,
We are seeking your input on the district’s School Boundary and Quadrant Alignment Project, led by Dillinger Research and Applied Data. This initiative could be one of the most impactful on the Worcester Public Schools for years to come. It’s important that we hear from multiple perspectives in public forums this fall before final scenarios are presented in December.
The realignment project seeks to address school capacity imbalances, fix confusing pathways from elementary to middle to high school, and potentially expand full-day preschool and school bus transportation options. While no decisions have been made, analysts from Dillinger will make recommendations that will likely include:
Potentially changing geographic boundaries of school assignment zones, meaning some residents may have different schools assigned to their addresses in the next one to three years
Potentially adjusting pathways from elementary to middle to high school to become more logical, predictable, and keep students together
Potentially expanding full-day preschool at elementary schools as federal and local funding opportunities become available
Potentially shifting school start- and end-times to accommodate increased access to school bus transportation and reduce walk zones
Public Forums and Meetings
We invite you to attend any public meeting or community forum to learn more details about potential scenarios, and to provide your feedback. Please note that School Committee meetings provide a virtual attendance option.
