Welcome to the homepage for the Hanover Insurance Academy of the Arts at Burncoat High School!

Hanover Insurance Academy of the Arts for grades 7-12 is an advanced academic academy that is integrated in visual and media arts, dance, music, and theater. It is hosted at Burncoat Middle School for grades 7-8, and Burncoat High School for grades 9-12.

The Hanover Insurance Academy of the Arts at Burncoat High School offers students a seamless transition into their more advanced academic and artistic studies.  Academy students at the high school level will declare their artistic major for their four years of study. This major will be the focus of their artistic endeavors

Admission Process

  • Students entering high school can apply online.

  • The admissions committee looks at all applicants holistically and considers elements such as academics, arts achievement, attendance, discipline records, and student statement of interest.

  • All students must apply for the high school program even if they are a current 8th grade Hanover Academy student

Academics

9th and 10th Grade Academic Pathway

Burncoat High School offers its students a rigorous arts-infused curriculum. Academy students in grade 9 and 10 will experience a strong foundational educational experience. In grades 11 and 12 academy students will have more autonomy to make their own educational decisions including taking Advanced Placement and college dual enrollment. For over 30 years the visual and performing arts magnet at Burncoat High School has been providing its students with a high calibre arts education.

The Burncoat Fine Arts Magnet Program is an arts centered approach to education. Students come to Burncoat to pursue an interest in dance, music, media arts, visual arts, or theatre.
