Welcome Back Letter from Superintendent Brian Allen

August 2025

Dear Worcester Public Schools Students, Families, and Staff,

As the 2025-26 school year rapidly approaches, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the incredible partnership of our families, community, dedicated staff, and the members of the Worcester School Committee. It is truly an honor and a privilege to lead the Worcester Public Schools as your new Superintendent and a graduate of the district.

As part of Phase 1 of my Superintendent Entry Plan, I am looking forward to visiting every school in the district by the end of September, with a priority on classroom walkthroughs to observe instruction and learning environments.

Our focus as a district for this year will be to sharpen our instruction and drive meaningful improvements in student learning. We will fully embrace the concept of "Vision to Action," going deeper into our "Vision of a Learner" framework to ensure all students are developing the future-ready skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world. This collective effort is about strengthening teaching and learning and uplifting the brilliance in every student.

On the operational side, I am delighted to share that once again the Transportation Department released bus stop assignments historically early, on August 1, giving families more time to plan their routines; and are fully staffed with bus drivers. Additionally, we are on schedule to begin using 20 new electric school buses — the first electric buses in district history — in late September, helping the City achieve the climate goals of its Green Worcester Plan.

Additionally, the Facilities Department was hard at work making upgrades across multiple buildings. Projects included the long-awaited window replacements at Worcester East Middle School and parking lot expansion at Roosevelt Elementary, among other projects.

Our collective success is truly at the heart of everything we do. My early days have reinforced my belief that strong collaboration will lead to true success for students and staff. I am deeply committed to our core values of belonging, respect, inclusivity, collaboration, and equity. I truly look forward to meeting with many more of our dedicated staff, amazing students, and valued community members as I continue to transition into this new role and lay the groundwork for a successful future for all.

Together, let’s all make this an exceptional year: Leading with purpose and delivering results.

Sincerely,
Brian Allen
