Safe Advisory for Education (S.A.F.E.) Working Group
The Worcester School Committee has approved the establishment of the Safe Advisory for Education (S.A.F.E.) Working Group to enhance safety practices in student well-being and physical building safety at our Worcester Public Schools.
The group will meet on a quarterly basis in February, May, September, and December.
Purpose
Develop common language and definitions around school safety.
To be a “think-tank” of evidenced based research and best practices for the school district. Make recommendations that may impact policies and procedures.
Ensure transparency on school safety.
To develop common practices to address all scholars needs.
The WPS S.A.F.E. Working Group is divided into two focusing on areas: (1) Student Safety and Sense of Belonging and (2) Campus Safety, Training, and Funding.
The WPS S.A.F.E. Working Group will consist of representatives from district administration, building principals, assistant principals, high school deans, school counselors, teachers, paraeducators, support staff, Educational Association of Worcester (EAW) leadership, parents and caregivers, community members and organizations, local emergency management, and students.
