Fifth and sixth grade students at Canterbury Street Magnet School are preparing for the growing season by working on their school's community garden.
Students worked together to build garden beds that will soon support fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, and corn. They also helped level the ground and prepare the space, creating a strong foundation for planting.
This initiative was made possible through a partnership with the Regional Environmental Council, which collaborates with Worcester Public Schools’ Grants Department to bring garden-based learning opportunities to schools in Worcester.
Beyond the physical work, the project offers valuable hands-on learning, giving students the chance to problem-solve, collaborate, and think critically while enjoying the early spring weather.
The garden will continue to serve as a space for experiential learning, helping students connect with nature and explore sustainable practices beyond the traditional classroom.
