Dear Worcester Public Schools Families and Staff,

It’s almost hard to believe that another school year has come to an end.  After a long winter with two blizzards, one no-school cold day, many two-hour delays, and a half-heat day, we have made it to the end of the 2025-26 school year.  We did it!

There is so much to celebrate this year.  For me, the highlight of my first year as Superintendent was watching our 1,700 seniors walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. Somehow, we blinked, and the last semester of high school has ended for them.  They’ve had their last prom, their last home game, their last final exam…And now they are off to change the world.  They are attending colleges across the country, from Harvard and Columbia to colleges in Florida, Texas, and Idaho, to our local colleges of QCC, Worcester State, Clark, Assumption, Holy Cross, WPI, and Mass College of Pharmacy.  Some are going to serve in the military, and others to trade schools and careers.  We wish them all the very best.

To our district leaders, building administrators, teachers and staff:  You had a great year on our theme of Vision to Action - going deeper and more intentional with our work.  You supported our students in many ways beyond assignments and tests. You gave the students the floor to speak up, the grace to fail, and the courage to start over. You saw a potential in them that they weren’t yet able to see in themselves, stretching their world with ideas that forced them to grow.  You are clearly the bridge between who they were when they walked through your doors at the start of the school year and who they are becoming.  Thank you.

To all of our caregivers: As a parent of a high school student myself, I know the struggles of morning alarms, driving them to school and practices, staying up late for projects, praying through the hard days, and cheering through the good ones.  The days are long, the weeks are long, and the months are long, but the years seem to go fast.  You get a little break from that daily school routine for a couple of months, but I’m sure you’ll be hoping school starts up again soon enough.

To our students: learning doesn’t stop during the summer.  Stay locked in and get your summer reading done.  Keep learning, keep leveling up.  Get out and touch grass when you need to.  Don’t go full NPC this summer; stay true to your build.  Let’s keep that strong energy going as we head into next year.

Congratulations to our graduating seniors and our retirees; we wish you the very best.  For everyone else, I am wishing you all a restful, safe, and learning summer.  We look forward to seeing you in August.  Thank you!
