WORCESTER – Thursday, September 24, 2026 – Students and staff at Belmont Street Community School marked a new partnership with national non-profit Good Sports on September 18 with a Mini Field Day featuring new sports equipment and apparel from a large donation from Good Sports that will expand physical activity opportunities for students at the school.

The field day event kicked off a partnership with Good Sports, which will allow Belmont Street Community School to request sports equipment as needed over the next two years to enhance both after-school programming and the core physical education curriculum.

“Physical education is an important part of a child’s educational experience, helping students build healthy habits, confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for being active,” said Worcester Public Schools Superintendent Brian E. Allen. “We are grateful to Good Sports for giving our students the opportunity to explore a wide range of sports and activities with equipment that makes learning active, engaging, and fun.

The donated inventory from Good Sports includes equipment for pickleball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton, gymnastics, and flag football. Good Sports also provided over 200 t-shirts, athletic socks, training and recovery gear, and tools to maintain the equipment.

During the Mini Field Day, students and staff, joined by volunteers from TJX Companies, participated in active stations that put the new equipment into immediate use through basketball, volleyball, flag football, and team games.
